 The Central California ENLACE Program is focused on predominantly rural Latino populations residing in the region of California known as the Central San
Joaquin Valley. This vast agricultural region encompasses Fresno, Tulare, Madera, and Merced Counties --- plus portions of five others whose community colleges comprise the Fresno State transfer student outreach system. ENLACE will develop an unprecedented multi-segmental infrastructure to significantly improve the postsecondary enrollment and completion rates of California's most under-served populations. A majority of the region’s Hispanic and other rural students who enroll in college immediately after high school graduation choose to attend a local community college. ENLACE will develop new student tracking and auto-referral systems to insure university support and involvements throughout the period of community college attendance. These same systems will provide an effective and smooth transition into the university upon completion of their two-year lower division coursework.
One of the goals of ENLACE is to link diverse communities, resources, and
populations for the purpose of improving the quality of life throughout
this decidedly unique American region.
